23 November 2006
MGM Wireless is pleased to be the recognised nationally as the 18th fastest growing Technology Company in Australia, as determined by the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Award.
Recording an average 506% revenue growth over the past 3 years, the award recognises the company’s innovative application of technology to improve education outcomes and safety for young Australians.
Last year, the company made it onto the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Rising Star Award, a special award for young companies.
By applying specialised, purpose-built mobile phone messaging (SMS) technology to the complex and highly sensitive area of school-parent communication, MGM Wireless has contributed to improving the educational outcomes and attendance of over 200,000 young Australians and increased the administrative efficiency in approximately 260 secondary schools in Australia and New Zealand. MGM Wireless products are now used by one in 10 secondary schools and colleges in Australia, is building sales in New Zealand and is being trialled in three schools in Arizona, USA.
The MGM Wireless concept arose in 2002 in response to Federal Governments’ priority to address the new and growing social problems of truancy, unexplained student absences and declining retention rates.
MGM Wireless co-founder and executive chairman, Mr. Mark Fortunatow said today: “We are pleased that a prestigious organisation like Deloitte has recognised the benefits that our school customers enjoy.
“We are the leader in field. Our innovative application of communications technology is proven to increase the safety and welfare of students. We have reached this position by listening to schools, working closely with educators and continually investing heavily in R&D to deliver the solutions that schools need to achieve their educational and social goals”.
The number of schools implementing the MGM Wireless products has recently accelerated with the release of a new market leading communication solution - messageyou™WatchLists. This solution allows schools to automate the entire process of school-parent communication, not only by SMS, but by landline voice mail, email and letter.
But much more significantly, messageyou™Watchlists has patented intelligence and technology to automatically apply social criteria or rules to alert school authorities of emerging high-risk situations for students. This allows teaching staff to immediately intervene before a situation becomes critical.
By informing parents whenever a child is potentially at risk messageyouWatchLists also builds closer relations and assists towards closer engagement of the parent community to the school.
MGM Wireless has also recently added a new product line in a state of the art roll marking technology which neatly dovetails into the Watchlist and Messageyou specifications.
“MGM Wireless is testament to the fact that an Australian company can be at the leading edge of innovation, technology and social responsibility. We are excited and honoured that a world-leading company such as Deloittes recognising our achievement. The rising incidence of unacceptable levels of school attendance is a serious problem world-wide. It applies to all socio-economic levels of Australian society. It’s satisfying to think that a successful solution has been developed here in Australia.”
MGM Wireless is a listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX Code: MWR) and is based in Adelaide, with sales and representative offices in New South Wales, Victoria, Brisbane and WA.
